Can you define what or how you would make your support (or whatever) of an artist ideal for you, what do you need to make it special for you?
For me it would start with feeling a connection to the music
Initially my 'fan experience' with DH was very satisfying [img]smile.gif[/img]
How it was in the beginning for myself and SG was ideal for me it wasnt perfect far from it and I was naieve about it all but I was in my idyllic little fan bliss world which I loved.
I guess though ideally today its to just feel a love for the music and understanding of what the artist is trying to do. Maybe see some shows and not get involved in any online/offline fan anything. Without all that it could be ideal

Yeah, music first and last for me, plus a good live gig!
All the other stuff is extraneous (spl?) and not really necessary to enhance the 'fan experience' for me. If I like the music and buy the CD's etc. then I consider myself a fan.
And, after experiencing this particular artists 'fan package' *ooh err missus* I think that I'll stay well clear of anyone elses! [img]wink.gif[/img]

My ideal fan experience ........ good question. I think it's made up of several things.
First off, music that connects with my soul. I enjoy lots of stuff, but there's a few that I can't get enough of. They get played over and over without ever getting tired of them. And when I move on to new stuff, I find that I return to them like old friends and the enjoyment begins again.
Secondly ....... and now we're into the "ideal" or fantasy part of being a fan ........ an artist that I find interesting on a personal level. Many musicians come across like they have the intelligence and personalities of limp fish. What adds that extra spark to the fan experience is to have a mental fantasy that the artist is also someone that I'd enjoy having to dinner or someone that I will go out of my way to catch their interviews.
Finally, the freedom to simply be a fan without feeling like I had my old grade school teacher looking over my shoulder and frowning in disapproval. There are the guilty pleasures that we all enjoy. Granted, we probably have different things that make us giggle and maybe we enjoy them to different degrees. But if I'm looking for a "fan" experience, then I want to be able to get together with other fans and maybe giggle like schoolgirls over things that we shouldn't know but that we know anyway. Hearing forbidden tidbits of information or having an illegal download or even a bit of pure gossiping about "off limit" topics ... truth be told that's what I enjoy.

This is a hard question for me I don't really know the answer to it.The music and lyrics are most important to me. I do know I have different ideals for every artist, they are all different and they seem to touch there own individual spot in me.
I like Dyan enjoy knowing something new about the person or group that I didn't know before its like them sharing a part of themselves with us and I think thats essential to a continuing interest.
